The Brotherhood, formally the Abe Schewel B’Nai B’rith Lodge, is a support organization that provides for the coming together of Jewish men in central Virginia to serve the Congregation and the community, and further the principles of Judaism. We help the Synagogue build a center of Jewish life in the area by meeting the needs of the Jewish community that may not be covered by normal Synagogue services. We sponsor Shabbat dinners, social activities, speakers, trips, Jewish camps for children, and synagogue “Days of Caring.” We are also a presence in the local community by supporting charitable organizations such as Gateway House, the Central Virginia Holocaust Education Foundation, and Interfaith Outreach. Our annual Jewish Food Fair is a tradition for our congregation as well as the greater Lynchburg community. We are open to members of the Synagogue and all Jewish men in the area. We get together monthly at Agudath Sholom for our famous Breakfast Meetings. Please join us. See the Bulletin for the date and time of the next meeting, or call the Synagogue office at 434-846-0739.
